Call Speeds

By default, RemoteSpark uses our 'Medium High' setting (denoted in the table below) and will self-throttle up/down (to a maximum of 1mbps) depending on the HoloLens user's internet speed. The caveat to this is that if it throttles down, call quality is affected before RemoteSpark will continually test the connection speed to see if it can throttle back up.

Users are able to lock in their call speed if they're certain of their call speed or need to have a stable speed during their call.

Choosing the Right Speed

Choosing the right video call speed is pretty easy. We recommend leaving a minimum overhead of data in your connection to allow for data transfer and other 'chatter' during the call. Meaning, if you have a connection speed of exactly 144kbps, selecting the 144kbps speed wouldn't work as you also need to leave room in the 'pipe' for other data. In that instance, we'd recommend selecting 80kbps.

This only really comes in to play in low-bandwidth scenarios or if you're certainly of your higher call speed and would like to lock it in a higher call quality.
