Sharing Content in a Video Call

Photo Capture

  • Click Take Photo
  • The photo capture function can also be triggered by voice command on the HoloLens

Photo Uploading


Note: photos must be in JPG/JPEG format.

Note: the photo’s size when it is downloaded to the HoloLens is dependent on the image’s resolution. Higher resolution images will appear larger on the HoloLens.


Drag and Drop Photos

  1. Find and select the photo you want to share.
  2. Click and drag the file to the item portal in the RemoteSpark call window.
  3. Drop the file when Upload is shown on the file icon.
  4. The photo will then upload to the RemoteSpark Server and proceed to download to the HoloLens.


Uploading Photos

  1. Click Files.
  2. Click Upload.
  3. Find and select the file you want to share.
  4. Click Open.
    • The file will then upload to the RemoteSpark server and proceed to download to the HoloLens.

Photo Annotation

  1. If you have taken a photo on the PC, you will automatically enter annotation mode. You can also click on any photo’s thumbnail to edit it.
  2. To annotate the image, click anywhere (with mouse-click, or stylus/finger touch on a touchscreen) on the remote image screen.
  3. To erase all annotations, click ‘Clear Ink’
  4. To return to the video feed, click Video
  5. To save the image to your PC, click Save


Note: all images, along with other 3D assets, are stored in a session file on the RemoteSpark Server where they can be accessed and saved to your device at any time.

Tip: to learn about the 3D file formats that are accepted in RemoteSpark, please see here.


Drag and Drop 3D Models

  1. Find and select the photo you want to share.
  2. Click and drag the file to the item portal in the RemoteSpark call window.
  3. Drop the file when Upload is shown on the file icon.
  4. The photo will then upload to the RemoteSpark Server and proceed to download to the HoloLens.

  3. Find and select the file you want to share.
  4. Click Open.
    • The file will then upload to the RemoteSpark server and proceed to download to the HoloLens.

  1. Click Files.
  2. Click Gallery.
  3. Select from the dropdown which Gallery to use: Standard, Personal or Organization.
  4. Click on the item you wish to share from the Gallery.
  5. The hologram will then proceed to download to the HoloLens. 

Share Documents

Note: RemoteSpark supports the following document file extensions: .pdf

Only the first 8 pages of a document are rendered in RemoteSpark, and documents cannot be edited or altered once they are added to a video call.


Tip: Depending on network speeds (which can affect file upload and transfer) you may wish to limit the file size that is shared.
