Accessing the Windows Device Portal is necessary for sideloading RemoteSpark to your HoloLens. Please take the following steps to access this portal.

Prerequisite | Enable Developer Mode on your HoloLens

Note: Developer Mode can be disabled again once the installation for RemoteSpark is complete.

1. Power on your HoloLens and put on the device.
   
   
2. Summon the home menu by tapping your wrist, then select the Settings tile.
   
   
3. Select the Update & Security tile within Settings.
   
   
   
4. Select the For developers option on the sidebar (on the left side of the Settings page).
   
   
5. Enable the following 3 settings:
   1. Use developer features
   2. Device discovery
   3. Device portal

Finding the necessary IP Address

There are two ways to access the Windows Device Portal, through Wi-Fi [recommended] and through USB connection.

1. Wi-Fi: On the For developers settings page, type the Wi-Fi IP address into your PC internet browser address bar. For this method, you must be on the same Wi-Fi connection for both the PC and the HoloLens.
   
   
2. USB Connection: Plug in your HoloLens to the computer via USB-C. On the For developers settings page, type the Ethernet IP address into your PC internet browser address bar.

Notes: 

• You can refer to the screenshot in the above section for where to find the necessary IP addresses.
• When connecting via USB, it may take a few tries for the computer to recognize that the HoloLens has been connected. 

Accessing the Windows Device Portal

1. After entering the IP address into your internet browser address bar, you will see error message such as “This site is not secure”. This page will look different depending on the internet browser you are using. 
   
   Click Details / Advanced and select the option to proceed to the web page.
   
   
2. If it’s the first time you’ve logged in to the Device Portal, you may need to request a PIN.
   1. Select Request a PIN on the Windows Device Portal.
      
      
   2. On your HoloLens, a PIN will appear.
      
      
   3. Type the PIN into the portal and enter a username and password.
      
       
   4. Proceed to sign into the portal to access. 
      
      
3. If it's not the first time that you have signed in, enter your username and password.
   
   
4. You will now have access to the Windows Device Portal.
